The research group "Computer Networks and Distributed Systems" (CNDS) is formed by the two research lines Distributed Systems (DSG) and Statistical Analysis of Networks and Systems (SANS). CNDS is recognised as a research group of excellence by the Generalitat de Catalunya since 2009.
Components of the research group form also the CNDS TECNIO agent accredited with the TECNIO label for outstanding technology transfer. This is the seal granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, through ACCIO, to identify and give visibility to an exclusive list of selected technology developers of the R+D+I system of Catalonia that present differential technological capabilities and with the ability to transfer them to strengthen the business fabric and make the Catalan innovation ecosystem internationally attractive.
In the CNDS TECNIO agent, we develop the following technologies:
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- LoRa mesh networks
- Machine learning
- Artificial intelligence
- Blockchain technology
- Zero-Knowledge-Proof (ZKP)
- Decentralized identities (DIDs) and verificable credentials (VCs)
- Digital Product Passport (DPP).
We apply these technologies to collect and analyse data, extract accurate, relevant, and unique information, and promote sustainability and the circular economy. In doing so, we help businesses and public institutions optimise processes, make more informed decisions that support their long-term sustainability goals, and create a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
